ActionAid Ireland unveils report on Ireland’s global fossil fuel financing

In April 2025, ActionAid Ireland launched its report, ‘The Hidden Truth: Ireland's Role in the Global Fossil Fuel Industry’ in the Oireachtas (parliament of Ireland). This report spotlighted Ireland’s role in financing fossil fuels and the disproportionate impact this has on women in the Global South.

The launch drew significant political and media attention, including 14 high profile pieces, with cross-party participation from members and Senators from the Green Party, Sinn Féin, Social Democrats, Labour, and the Independents. The report exposes how fossil fuel finance undermines rights in the Global South, calls for redistribution through fairer taxes and polluter-pays rules, and insists on building resilience for communities already living with climate breakdown.
